How i LOVE Valentine's Day...

But NOT in the way you might think!! 

For the past two years, Boy and i have spent Valentine's Day going to an event that honors an INCREDIBLE women! This year Boy and I had tickets to see Jonatha Brooke's play, "My Mother Has Four Noses". 

You know when you see someone and immediately wish you knew them in real life? I felt that connection with Jonatha when i saw her on Jen Lee's trailer for her film, "Indie Kindred".

The show was unexpected, emotional, and heart felt. All Jonatha had to do was open her mouth to sing her very first song, and i was already crying. Her voice is THAT lovely. 

After the show i just stood there, tears running down my face as i waited patiently to see if Jonatha was going to come out. Not even realizing i was surrounded by friends of hers, the tears streamed faster when she appeared at the end of the hallway. And continued to fall as i watched her hug and greet everyone.

And then it was my turn. I got to briefly chat, and hug her myself. And she was JUST as wonderful in person as she seemed on stage.

Last year the boy and i had the PLEASURE of going to an event Grand Central was throwing. A valentines day event featuring Sophie Blackall!! I'm sure you've seen her work before, but if not, you'll surely swoon. She's seriously one of the most talented watercolorists and illustrators i know. The event was lovely, and i had a few moments to chat with her when she signed her book, Missed Connections. I really hope to take a watercolor class she teaches one day!! That would be AMAZING.

I feel so grateful we have such wonderful events and people in New York! It's such a blessing! I'm excited to see what NEXT YEAR brings! yay! :)

Foodie Friday: Vegetarian Dum Sum House

One of the most MAGICAL things you can say to me is "Would you like to go get dim sum?" To add an extra rainbow and a few extra happy dances, tell me it's VEGETARIAN dim sum. I guarantee you're gonna get BIG a hug!!

The Vegetarian Dim Sum House in Chinatown did NOT disappoint! 

I honestly didn't even know vegetarian dim sum existed until my friend Laura told me about it!! And it was KILLER! Our friend Anne knew EXACTLY what to order, and between the 5 of us, we ordered about 12 delicious bites of goodness to pass around the table. The BEST-EST part of dim sum is that it's always super inexpensive. I think we all paid $10! We left, full, satisfied, and with money to spare! It was glorious!

I really have to ask Anne what we ordered so i can give ya'll some tips, but for now, if you're visiting and craving some inexpensive asian food, head to Vegetarian Dim Sum House!! 

Welcome to NY!

Sorry i haven't been around in a month. 

I never {realized} how  I N S A N E  moving to another state could be.  Silly me...i really thought i had things together and ready, but no way Jose! 

But now i am, in NYC, trying my hardest to adjust to a [very] different life now. It's been really hard, i'm not going to lie, but i'm thankful for my choice. 

Thankful for the boy above, for the delicious food i've eaten, and thankful I'm in a state of SO much RANDOM! We went to a "Adventures of Pete and Pete" reunion and it was FAN-tastic! 

BUT, in my time away from my blog, i've been evaluating how i write it, how often i write, and what my content should really consist of. I promise LOTS of really cool new blogs soon.

Maybe even tomorrow. ;)
