New Pretties! New Bloggin'!

Okay folks! It's time...i am going to be a better blogger, for realz! I know I've said this over and over, but now i should have more time since they aren't giving me enough hours at work. :) At least the bright side to THAT is that i have no excuse now!

To be honest, I've been so inspired by all of your lovely blogs, that i didn't want to post if i didn't have something uniquely splendid, but i think I'm just going to go with the flow and hopefully inspire you the same way you inspire me!!

With the new ambition to blog, i have been creating up a storm which has been brilliant!

BEHOLD! :)

Picnics, Farmers Markets and a Happy Saturday.

I went on a picnic a couple weekends ago. First we went to the Farmers Market (yay!) and bought some delicious foods.

I tried my first Arnold Palmer which was STELLAR! We played our guitars, ate delicious food and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Twas lovely.

The squirels are really cocky. They litterally come RIGHT up to you to steal you're food.

Go Squirel Go!

This one was a run away. :) We did give him a cherry eventually.

Picnic Goodness

MMM....So yummy!

I love acousitc guitars...PLUS they travel well, so you can bring them to parks.

And sometimes we've had such lovely weather...when it's not raining. Welcome to Florida! It's either gorgeous or horrid outside.

All in all it was a nice afternoon. I seriously LOVE Farmers Markets so it's always a treat to visit them!

You Captured My Fruit.

For as long as i can remember, food art, in any genre, has always captivated me. Well, obviously, looking at the name i chose for my own business. Produce (fruit and vegetable) artwork really tickles my fancy though. So, it's very understood why i adore them so much. Tim Chumley has a keen eye and works in many genre's.

How long have you been crafting?

I've been a photographer most of my life, receiving my first camera when I was six. But my interest in photography took off in high school and stayed pretty even until about five years ago, when the quality/cost ratio of digital imaging became reasonable. I quit my day job (teaching in grad school) 18 months ago to practice photography full time. I've been producing my own prints for sale for about a year.

Did you always craft in this genre?

I've never "crafted" before.

Who or what inspires you?

In fine art photography I appreciate photos that tell a story or evoke an emotion, or that offer a unique perspective on something traditional. My fruit series is an example of a different perspective. It's not expected, and because of that it draws a lot of attention.

What challenges have you found while taking your craft into the business world?

The promotion process never stops. I have to constantly look for new opportunities and outlets for my prints. For example, I recently started selling large framed prints on Amazon.com. The other lesson I've learned is: compliments don't pay the bills. Everyone who sees my work "loves my work," and it's rewarding to hear. I never get tired of compliments. Some days that's what keeps me moving forward. But those remarks don't put kids through college.

A charming little Fruit and Tea necklace.

Fruit and Tea Charm

I thought my cute "Fruit and Tea" charm necklace would be a great addition to the last artist interview!! :)

Knit and Tea

When i saw these cute Tea holder at Etsy, i sat back and though, how clever!! At the time, i was bringing tea and sugar to work frequently and had a hard time keeping them all together. Jacqueline from Jacqueline Knitcreated this cute creation, along with fun other knitted items that make life a little more practical and a little more fun!

1) How long have you been crafting?

I've been knitting for as long as I can remember (I was taught by my mother)

2) Did you always craft in this genre?

I've done other needlework like embroidery, sewing, cross stitch and crochet, but knitting is by far my favourite. I'd like to try rug hooking at some point as well.

3) Who or what inspires you?

I like to make things that are useful. My house is at the maximum for space so anything that comes in has to either replace something already there or have a use. So my knitting kind of follows along these lines too. (The fruit jackets stop bruising, the tea bag holder replaces plastic baggies (that's what my friend was using when I thought of the idea to knit her one!), etc.)

4) What challenges have you found while taking your craft into the business world?

Having to learn how to take good quality pictures (I'm still working on this) has been a bit time-consuming and frustrating. Also determining price was difficult at the start. As well, I've still got some work to do on finding various ways to promote my shop.
